Holiday Sage Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. milk
    3 Tbsp. sugar
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. minced onion
    2 tsp. leaf sage, crumbled
    2 Tbsp. butter
    2 envelopes active dry yeast
    4 1/2 c. sifted flour
Preparation
    Scald milk with sugar, salt, onion and butter.
    Cool to lukewarm.
    In a large mixing bowl, sprinkle yeast into warm water; stir until dissolved, then stir in a cooled milk mixture.
    Stir in flour and sage until well blended, then beat with a wooden spoon about 100 strokes.
    Dough will be sticky and heavy.
    Cover with a clean towel; let rise in a warm place, away from drafts, for about 1 hour or until doubled.
    Stir down.
