Sunflower Seed Cakes(Makes About 15 Cakes) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. shelled sunflower seeds
    3 c. water
    2 1/4 tsp. salt
    6 Tbsp. white corn meal
    1/2 c. cooking oil or shortening
Preparation
    Place sunflower seeds, water and salt in a large saucepan. Cover and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
    Put the mixture through
    a food mill or puree in a blender.
    Mix in the corn meal, a tablespoon at a time, to make a dough stiff enough to be shaped with the hands.
    Cool at room temperature.
    Shape into firm, flat cakes about 3 inches in diameter.
