Italian Cream Cake - cooking recipe

5 eggs
1 c. Crisco
1 stick butter
2 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 c. pecans or walnuts
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. coconut
1 c. buttermilk
Preparation

Separate eggs; beat whites until stiff.
Cream Crisco, butter and sugar.
Add yolks, then add flour, salt and soda sifted together.
Add nuts, vanilla, coconut and buttermilk.
Fold in egg whites.
Bake in 3 (8-inch) pans for 35 to 40 minutes at 350\u00b0.
