Braised Celery - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 c. celery, cut into 1-inch pieces
    1 small onion, sliced
    2 tsp. cornstarch
    1/4 c. milk
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 c. grated Cheddar cheese
Preparation
    Place celery and onion in a saucepan with 1/2 inch boiling water and salt.
    Cover and cook until celery is just tender-crisp, about 15 to 20 minutes.
    Drain, if necessary.
    Blend the cornstarch with the milk and add to the celery.
    Add salt and pepper.
    Cook, stirring, until slightly thickened.
    Sprinkle with the cheese; toss lightly until the cheese begins to melt.
    This is delicious as a luncheon or supper dish with crisp bacon.
    Serves 4.
