Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1/4 c. molasses
3/4 c. shortening
1 egg
2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Soften the shortening and add sugar, molasses, cloves, ginger and cinnamon.
Add egg; beat well.
Sift together flour, salt and soda.
Add to first mixture.
Chill and make into 1-inch balls. Flatten and bake at 375\u00b0 about 10 minutes.
