Oatmeal Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. oatmeal
1 1/4 c. boiling water
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/3 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
Add oatmeal to water and set aside to cool.
Cream the shortening, sugar and eggs.
Add oatmeal and beat until fluffy. Add dry ingredients sifted together. Add flavoring. Bake in greased shallow pan, 13 x 8-inches, 45 minutes to 1 hour. Add topping to cake and brown for about 10 minutes. This is a moist cake and keeps well. Serves 20.
