Ingredients

3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
4 Tbsp. molasses
1 egg
2 c. flour
2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. ginger
Preparation

Cream the shortening and add sugar gradually and continue creaming until sugar and shortening are well blended.
Add molasses and egg and beat well.
Sift the dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture; beat until smooth.
Roll in small balls or drop mixture from a teaspoon about 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 15 minutes.
Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
