Megan'S Purple Ribbon Gingersnaps - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    3/4 c. shortening
    1/4 c. molasses
    1 egg
    2 c. flour
    2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. ginger
    1/4 tsp. cloves
Preparation
    Lightly grease cookie sheets.
    In large bowl, combine first 4 ingredients; blend well.
    Stir in remaining ingredients.
    Chill dough for easier handling.
    Heat oven to 375\u00b0.
    Shape dough into 1-inch balls.
    Roll balls in sugar and place 2 inches apart on prepared cookie sheet.
    Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are set.
    Makes 48 cookies.
