Creamed Herring - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (1 lb.) jar pickled herring in wine sauce (drain and save juice; discard onions)
    1 large sweet onion
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    juice of 1 lemon
    2 Tbsp. herring liquid
    8 oz. sour cream
Preparation
    Sprinkle onion with sugar, juice of a lemon and herring liquid.
    Mix in the drained herring and sour cream.
    Let stand overnight.
