Scalloped Onions - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. small white onions
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    1/4 c. flour
    2 c. milk
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 c. grated old cheese
    1/4 c. chopped pimento
    1/4 c. chopped parsley
    1/2 c. bread crumbs
    1 Tbsp. butter, softened
Preparation
    Peel onions and cook in salted water for 15 minutes until just tender.
    Place in baking dish.
    Melt 1/4 cup butter.
    Add flour and blend until smooth, cooking 3 minutes.
    Heat milk and slowly stir into flour mixture.
    Bring just to a boil and cook 5 minutes, stirring constantly with a wire whip.
    Add salt and pepper.
    Stir in cheese until melted.
    Add pimento and parsley.
    Pour over onions.
    Mix crumbs with softened butter.
    Sprinkle on top.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 15 minutes or until brown.
