Divinity - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 c. white corn syrup
    1/2 c. water
    2 2/3 c. sugar
    2 egg whites
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2/3 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Stir sugar, syrup and water over low heat until sugar is dissolved.
    Cook without stirring to 260\u00b0 or until it forms a hard ball in cold water.
    In a heavy mixing bowl (not plastic), beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
    Continue beating while pouring in the hot syrup in a thin stream.
    Add vanilla and nuts. Continue beating until mixture holds its shape.
    Drop on waxed paper from the tip of a buttered spoon.
    This makes about 4 dozen candies.
