Helen'S 12 Bean Soup - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. lima beans (large)
1/2 c. baby lima beans
1/2 c. Great Northern beans
1/2 c. pea beans
1/2 c. yellow split peas
1/2 c. green split peas
1 large onion (optional)
1/2 c. lentil beans
1/2 c. pinto beans
1/2 c. garbanzo beans
1/2 c. black-eyed peas
1/2 c. kidney beans
1 qt. canned tomatoes
Preparation

Wash beans; put in large kettle.
Cover with water and soak overnight.
Next morning, drain and add 2 quarts water.
Simmer slowly while covered for 3 to 4 hours.
Now add 1 large onion (chopped), 1 quart canned tomatoes and 1 teaspoon chili powder to taste.
Simmer an additional 40 to 60 minutes.
Pieces of lean ham or a ham bone may be added at first cooking, if desired. Vegetable water flavors as well.
Carrots, celery and other seasonings may be added.
Use your imagination.
Freezes well. Delicious and nutritious!
