Date Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 tsp. soda
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. dates, chopped
1 egg
3/4 c. Crisco
1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. soda
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. nuts

Preparation

Put first 3 ingredients together and cool.
Cream egg, Crisco and sugar well.
Combine flour, salt and soda.
Add flour and dates alternately.
Pour into greased and floured pan.
Add chocolate chips, sugar and nuts.
Put on top of batter before baking.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 minutes in 9 x 13 x 2-inch pan.
