Norwegian Kringles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. dry yeast
    2/3 c. sugar
    1 1/3 c. lukewarm water
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 1/3 Tbsp. Crisco or lard
    2/3 c. cream
    6 c. flour
Preparation
    Mix sugar and cream. Scald and cool.
    Blend all ingredients. Add sufficient flour to knead until quite firm.
    Let rise until double in bulk and knead again.
    Let rise again.
    On a board, flatten to 1/2 inch thick.
    Cut 1/2-inch strips 6 inches long. Roll dough between hands to rope shape and form a figure 8.
    Dip one side in melted butter and then in sugar and put on a lightly greased cookie sheet with sugar side up.
    Bake 15 minutes at 375\u00b0.
