Barcelona Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 lb. rump steak
    6 slices bacon
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    3 medium onions, sliced
    1 c. uncooked rice
    2 c. beef stock
    1 finely crushed bay leaf
    1/2 tsp. thyme
    2 crushed garlic cloves
    1 1/2 c. peeled and chopped tomatoes
Preparation
    Cube steak into 1-inch squares.
    Cook bacon in skillet until crisp.
    Drain and put in casserole dish.
    Brown steak in bacon drippings until brown.
    Add salt and pepper; put in bacon dish. Saute onions 5 minutes; add to meat.
    In the remaining fat, brown rice, then put aside.
    Add bay leaf, thyme and garlic to meat.
    Add liquid.
    Cover.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 1 hour.
    Cook rice and put in dish with meat.
    Add tomatoes and cook 90 minutes.
    Serves 6
