Creamed Onions - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    16 small whole onions
    1/4 lb. bacon
    1/2 c. vinegar
    3/4 c. sugar
    2 c. mayonnaise (not salad dressing)
Preparation
    Boil onions; drain well.
    Fry, drain and crumble the bacon. Boil together until dissolved the vinegar and sugar.
    Stir in bacon crumbles (reserve some for topping).
    When cool, add mayonnaise.
    Pour over cooked onions.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 minutes.
    May be served cold, best hot.
