Ingredients

1 c. vegetable shortening
1 c. sugar
1 1/4 c. light corn syrup
3 eggs
3 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
Cream shortening, sugar and syrup.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Mix in buttermilk and vanilla.
In separate bowl, sift together dry ingredients.
Add to syrup mixture and mix until smooth.
Pour into greased 10-inch tube pan.
Bake 1 hour and 10 minutes.
