Corn Bread - cooking recipe

1 c. flour
1 c. corn meal
2 to 4 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. baking powder
3 Tbsp. applesauce
1 c. milk
1/4 c. cooking oil
Preparation

Grease a 9 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan; set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, stir together the flour, corn meal, sugar, baking powder and salt.
Make a well in center of the dry mixture.
In a medium mixing bowl, combine applesauce, milk and cooking oil.
Add liquid to dry mixture; stir until just moistened (batter should be lumpy).
Bake in a 425\u00b0 oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a wooden toothpick comes out clean.
