Christmas Punch - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 pt. lime sherbet
    3 liter lemon-lime soda
    1 jar maraschino cherries
Preparation
    Put cherries and lemon-lime soda in ice cube trays and freeze. Spoon 3 pints of sherbet into punch bowl.
    Let soften at room temperature about 5 minutes.
    Slowly pour in lemon-lime soda, stirring slightly.
    Float generous scoopfuls of remaining sherbet on top of punch.
    Add maraschino cherry ice cubes to punch.
