Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    12 small cucumbers
    6 small onions
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. mustard seed
    1/2 tsp. celery seed
    2 c. vinegar
    1 tsp. turmeric
    2 Tbsp. salt
Preparation
    Peel onions.
    Cut the unpared cucumbers and the onions into thin slices.
    Layer and sprinkle with salt the onions and cucumbers in a ceramic or stainless steel bowl.
    Let stand 2 hours.
    Drain.
    Do not rinse.
    Mix vinegar, turmeric, celery seed, mustard seed and sugar and stir into cucumbers.
    Pack into sterilized jars and seal.
    Makes about 8 pints.
