Red Clam Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 Tbsp. olive oil
    1 c. chopped onion
    4 c. canned whole tomatoes, chopped
    1 can tomato paste
    fresh ground pepper
    2 Tbsp. fresh basil
    2 cloves crushed garlic
    3/4 c. chopped clams
    2/3 c. clam broth
Preparation
    Cook onion in heated oil until soft.
    Add tomatoes, paste, basil, garlic and pepper to taste and simmer for 30 minutes, sirring occasionally.
    Add the clams and enough broth to flavor the sauce without making it too thin.
    Taste and adjust seasoning by adding pepper, salt or a pinch of sugar.
    Simmer 15 minutes more.
    Serve hot over linguini, spaghetti or capellini.
