Applesauce Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 c. Crisco
    1 1/4 c. white sugar
    1 c. brown sugar, packed
    3 eggs
    1 3/4 c. thick unsweetened applesauce
    1/2 c. water
    3 c. sifted all-purpose flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 3/4 tsp. soda
    1 3/4 tsp. salt
    1 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    3/4 tsp. allspice
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    1 1/2 c. pecans, chopped
    1 1/2 c. dates or raisins or 1/2 of each (3/4 c.)
Preparation
    Cream shortening, sugar and
    eggs.
    Add applesauce; mix well. Stir in sifted dry ingredients, alternately with water. Blend fruits and nuts into
    the
    batter.
    Bake in well-greased and floured tube pan at 350\u00b0 for 55 to 60 minutes.
    Frost with Penuche Frosting.
