Chili - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 green peppers, chopped
    2 large onions, chopped
    6 cloves garlic
    2 bay leaves
    1/4 c. oil
    2 Tbsp. chili powder
    2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 lb. ground beef
    1/2 c. canned chili peppers, chopped (optional)
    4 lb. whole, peeled tomatoes
    2 lb. cooked, drained kidney beans
Preparation
    In heavy-bottomed saucepan, cook peppers, onions, garlic and bay leaves in oil, stirring frequently, until vegetables are soft. Add chili powder, salt and sugar.
    Cook, stirring constantly, 2 minutes more.
    Add meat and cook until lightly brown.
    Add chili peppers, tomatoes and their juice and kidney beans.
    Simmer, uncovered, for 2 hours.
    Yields 6 to 8 servings.
