Corn Bread - cooking recipe

4 Tbsp. bacon drippings
1 1/2 c. yellow cornmeal
3 Tbsp. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
2 c. fresh buttermilk
1 egg
Preparation

Melt bacon drippings in a 9-inch iron skillet until very hot. During this time, sift dry ingredients into bowl.
Add buttermilk and egg; beat until batter is smooth.
Add 1/2 of drippings to batter and stir well.
Pour batter into skillet and bake at 450\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
