Fruit Chewies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. nuts
    1/4 lb. margarine
    1/2 lb. brown sugar (1/2 box)
    2 eggs
    1 c. flour
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. lemon or orange extract
    1/2 lb. candied fruit
Preparation
    Spread nuts into bottom of greased and floured pan.
    Mix margarine, brown sugar, eggs, flour and flavorings.
    Pour batter over nuts.
    Press candied fruit into top of batter.
    Use a 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Bake 1 hour at 275\u00b0.
    Yields 36 bars.
