Cottage Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    2/3 c. milk
    1 egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/3 c. sifted flour
    2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cream together shortening and sugar.
    Add egg and vanilla. Sift together salt, baking powder and flour.
    Add dry ingredients alternately with milk.
    Beat well.
    Bake in a greased and floured 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan at 350\u00b0 for 35 minutes or until done.
    Serve warm with lemon sauce.
