Nutmeg Flats - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg, separated
    2 c. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. freshly grated nutmeg
Preparation
    In large bowl of mixer, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg yolk and beat well.
    Stir in flour and nutmeg.
    With lightly floured fingertips, spread evenly in 15 x 10 x 1-inch jelly roll pan.
    Beat egg white slightly and brush over top.
    Bake in preheated 275\u00b0 oven until rich golden color, about 1 hour. While hot, cut in 2 x 3/4-inch bars; remove to racks to cool. Makes about 96.
