Gingerbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp. ground cloves
1/8 tsp. ground allspice
3 Tbsp. vegetable shortening
2 Tbsp. sugar
1/4 c. molasses
1/4 c. boiling water
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
Spray an 8 x 4-inch loaf pan with spray.
In medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt and spices; set aside.
In a large bowl with mixer at medium speed, cream the shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in molasses and boiling water.
Stir in dry ingredients until moistened.
Pour batter into pan.
Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
Cool in pan on wire rack about 10 minutes.
Remove from pan and cool completely on rack.
Makes 16 servings.
