Ingredients

1 egg
1 c. flour
1 c. buttermilk
2 Tbsp. shortening/oil
1 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. soda
Preparation

Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and soda.
Set aside.
Measure together buttermilk, oil and egg.
Blend together wet and dry ingredients.
Mix just until mixture is damp.
Bake on a medium hot griddle.
Flip when cakes are bubbly around the edge.
