Mary Ann'S Cornbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. flour
    1 c. cornmeal (yellow)
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 c. sugar
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. soft shortening
    2 eggs
    1 c. buttermilk
Preparation
    Sift together flour, cornmeal, baking powder, sugar and salt. Add shortening.
    Mix well.
    Add eggs and buttermilk.
    Heat 1 tablespoon oil in large skillet; sprinkle with cornmeal on the bottom.
    Pour in batter.
    Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown at 425\u00b0.
    Yield:
    12 to 16 generous slices.
