Mushroom-Beef-Barley Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. ground chuck, browned
    1 lb. mushrooms, chopped
    1/2 c. barley
    2 cans beef broth plus 5 cans water
    1 bay leaf
    1 1/2 c. each: onion, celery and carrots, diced fine
    4 Tbsp. dry sherry (optional)
Preparation
    Combine all ingredients in a large pot and simmer for 2 hours or until vegetables are tender.
    Remove bay leaf before serving. Serves 8.
