Jonda'S Very Best Tomato Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. tomatoes, cut up (canned okay)
    1/4 c. margarine, melted
    2 Tbsp. brown sugar
    1 medium onion, chopped and sauteed in the margarine until transparent
    3 strips bacon
    1/2 to 3/4 c. cubed or grated cheese (Velveeta or mild Cheddar or combo with Swiss)
    salt to taste
    4 slices white bread
    1/2 tsp. basil
Preparation
    Add the sauteed onions to tomatoes along with brown sugar and basil.
    Cut bread in small cubes.
    In a greased casserole dish, put a layer of tomato mixture, layer of bread and cheese; repeat. Cut the bacon in small pieces and spread on top layer.
    Bake, covered, 1 hour at 325\u00b0.
    Put under broiler to crisp bacon.
    More or less bread is used, depending upon the juiciness of the tomatoes.
