Ingredients

3 c. self-rising flour or 3 c. plain flour (with 6 tsp. baking powder and 1/2 tsp. salt)
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Mix all dry ingredients; cut in shortening until it looks like fine cornmeal.
Beat eggs; add milk and vanilla.
Mix this with other ingredients just until all is mixed together.
