Mom'S Lemon Custard Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. lemon cake mix
    1/4 c. sugar
    1/2 c. milk
    1 lemon, juice and rind
Preparation
    Mix cake according to package directions.
    Reserve 1 cup of prepared batter.
    Bake 2 layers in prepared pans.
    With reserved batter, add sugar, milk and rind and juice.
    Cook over very low heat until thick, stirring constantly.
    Add milk if custard is too thick.
    Spread between layers.
