Scalloped Tomatoes - cooking recipe

3 c. canned tomatoes
1/4 c. butter
3 c. medium coarse bread crumbs
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
ground allspice
3 Tbsp. sugar
Preparation

Heat tomatoes and butter in saucepan over moderate heat until butter melts.
Mix in crumbs, sugar, salt and pepper.
Spoon into a 9 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish.
Sprinkle allspice over top; bake, uncovered, at 400\u00b0 for 40 to 45 minutes, until mixture is \"set\" in middle and lightly browned.
