Caramels - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. half and half
    1 c. milk
    1/2 c. white corn syrup
    1 Tbsp. vanilla
    1/4 c. butter
Preparation
    Cook slowly to 248\u00b0 or a hard ball forms in cold water when a drop is added.
    Pour caramel mixture into well-greased 8 x 8-inch pan.
    Let cool until set. Remove from pan and cut into squares. Wrap pieces in wax paper.
