Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. sliced cucumbers
    8 medium onions, sliced
    1/2 c. canning salt
    1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1 qt. cider vinegar
    1 Tbsp. ground ginger
    1 Tbsp. celery seed
    1 Tbsp. mustard seed
    6 c. sugar
Preparation
    Slice cucumbers and add onions and salt.
    Let stand about 1 hour. Drain thoroughly. Combine remaining ingredients.
    Heat to boiling and add to cucumber mixture.
    Mix and heat gently to boiling, stirring often.
    Place in sterilized jars and seal. Makes 7 pints.
