Chicken And Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (2 1/2 to 3 lb.) broiler-fryer chicken, cut up and skin removed
    6 c. water
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 tsp. pepper
    1 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. margarine
    1/3 c. shortening
    2 c. sifted self-rising flour
    1/2 c. water
Preparation
    Place chicken in a heavy 2 1/2-quart saucepan.
    Add 6 cups water and stir in salt and pepper.
    Bring to a boil.
    Cover and reduce heat; simmer 45 minutes to 1 hour or until very tender. Remove chicken from broth and let cool.
    Remove chicken from bones and dice.
    Add milk and margarine to broth; bring to a simmer.
