Yam And Apple Casserole - cooking recipe

6 Yams (parboiled and peeled)
6 Tart Apples
1/2 Cup Butter
2 Cups Water
1 Cup Sugar
3 Tbsp. Cornstarch
1/4 tsp. Salt
Preparation

Slice yams half inch thick. Slice apples thin. Place alternate layers starting with apples in glass or Corningware-type casserole. Boil water and butter. Mix sugar and cornstarch and enough water to form paste and add to water and butter. Mix and cook until clear and thickened. Pour over yam and apple. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.
