Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 1/2 c. cornmeal
1/2 c. flour, sifted
2 tsp. baking powder
1 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 egg, beaten
3/4 c. milk

Preparation

Sift dry ingredients. Add onion. Add milk and egg, stirring lightly. Drop 1 teaspoon batter for each hush puppy into hot oil. Fry several at a time. Drain on paper towel. Serve while hot. Makes 2 dozen.
