Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. flour, sifted
    1 egg, beaten or equivalent egg substitute
    3/4 to 1 c. water
    1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    boiling water
Preparation
    In large, deep bowl sift flour.
    In small bowl beat egg.
    Add egg mixture to flour, then enough water to make a soft dough. Beat dough mixture with a wooden spoon.
    Cut small piece out of the dough with a tablespoon.
    Working in batches, drop dough pieces into boiling water.
    When cooked, dumplings will rise to top.
    Drain cooked dumplings in a colander.
    Rinse with water and transfer to separate bowl.
    Gently toss with oil.
    Makes about 50 (1-inch diameter) dumplings.
    Serve with soup.
