Chocolate Chip Torte(Cookie) - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 3/4 c. sifted flour
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped dates
1 c. boiling water
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. butter and 1/2 c. vegetable shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips

Preparation

Sift flour, cocoa and salt.
Mix dates, boiling water and soda.
Cool.
Cream the butter and shortening.
Add sugar and beat until fluffy.
Add eggs.
Alternately add flour and date mixture, blending well after each addition.
Add vanilla.
Spread in greased 13 x 9 1/2-inch pan.
Sprinkle with nuts and chips.
Bake in moderate oven (350\u00b0) for 25 minutes or until done.
Cool.
Cut into squares.
