Cherry Winks - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    2 Tbsp. milk
    2 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. pecans
    1 c. dates
    2 1/2 c. corn flakes
    maraschino cherries
Preparation
    Sift dry ingredients and set aside.
    Combine shortening and sugar.
    Cream well.
    Add eggs, milk and vanilla.
    Beat well. Blend in dry ingredients gradually.
    Mix thoroughly.
    Add nuts and dates.
    Shape into balls, using 1 level tablespoon of dough per cookie.
    Crush corn flakes.
    Roll each ball into crushed flakes.
    Place on greased baking sheet.
    Top each cookie with 1/4 maraschino cherry.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 10 minutes.
