Orange Slice Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter or margarine
    1 pound orange slices, chopped
    2 c. sugar
    2 c. nuts, chopped
    4 eggs
    1 can flaked coconut
    1 c. fresh orange juice
    2 c. confectioners sugar
    1 tsp. soda
    1/2 c. buttermilk
    3-1/2 c. all purpose flour
    1 pound chopped dates
Preparation
    Cream butter and granulated sugar until smooth.
    Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.
    Dissolve soda in buttermilk and add to creamed mixture.
    Place flour in a large bowl and add dates, chopped orange slices and nuts.
    Stir to coat.
    Add flour and fruit mixture and coconut to creamed mixture. This makes a very stiff dough that should be mixed with the hands. Put in greased 13 x 9 x 3 inch cake pan.
    Bake at 250\u00b0 for 2-1/2 to 3 hours.
    Combine orange juice and powdered sugar. Pour over hot cake.
    Let stand in pan over night.
