Candied Sweet Potatoes - cooking recipe

8 large sweet potatoes
1 stick butter
3/4 to 1 c. white or brown sugar
Preparation

Peel sweet potatoes. Cut into large chunks. Place in heavy pan. Cover with water, sugar and butter. Cook slowly about 1 hour on low boil. Watch at the end, the water will have cooked away and the syrup will be thick.
