Pfeffernuesse - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. brown sugar
    2/3 c. molasses
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. oil of anise
    1/4 tsp. black pepper
    4 to 6 c. flour
    1/2 c. white sugar
    2/3 c. shortening
    1 egg
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1/4 tsp. allspice
Preparation
    Cream sugars, shortening and molasses.
    Add egg.
    Add dry ingredients and oil of anise.
    Mix until well blended.
    Chill at least one hour, roll the size of a lead pencil, slice.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
