Anise Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. white ???
    1/2 white corn syrup
    1/2 c. water
Preparation
    Mix the ingredients in large saucepan.
    Stir to just dissolve. Cook to hard crack stage over medium heat (300\u00b0) for 25 to 30 minutes from start to boiling.
    Do not stir.
    After boiling has ceased, add 1 teaspoon anise oil and 1 teaspoon red food coloring. Butter 2 pie plates.
    Pour into pie plates.
    While still warm, gently make indentations until it cools and holds its shape.
    I use the back of a butter knife to make squares.
    Don't break through the film.
