Christmas Eve Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 onions, chopped
    1 clove garlic, minced
    1 lb. ground chuck
    3 c. beef stock
    2 (28 oz.) cans tomatoes
    1 c. potatoes, diced
    1 c. celery, diced
    1 c. frozen cut green beans
    1 c. carrots, diced
    2 Tbsp. chopped parsley
    1 c. cooking sherry
    1/2 tsp. basil
    1/4 tsp. thyme
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Saute onions and beef until beef is brown.
    Add rest of ingredients.
    Simmer at least one hour.
    Can be made ahead and frozen.
    Serves 6 to 8.
