Carlucci Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. sirloin tips
    1 medium onion, diced
    3 cloves garlic, diced
    3/4 Tbsp. basil
    5 carrots
    4 potatoes
    1 (29 oz.) can tomato sauce
    2 Tbsp. oregano
    5 Tbsp. barley
Preparation
    Pare and slice carrots.
    Cube potatoes and sirloin tips. Place all, but barley, in a 4 1/2-quart Dutch oven or crock-pot. Add 2 cups water.
    In the crock-pot, cook 6 hours on low or 3 on high.
    Using a Dutch oven, bring to a boil, then cover and simmer 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours.
    During the last hour, add barley.
