Jim Dandy Muffins - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 2/3 c. flour
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. nutmeg or cinnamon
    1/3 c. shortening
    3/4 c. milk
    1 egg
    jam or jelly
    chopped nuts (optional)
Preparation
    Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and spice.
    Cut in shortening until particles are fine.
    Add milk and egg.
    Mix just until thoroughly blended.
    Spoon into greased muffin cups.
    Place 1 teaspoon jam or jelly on top of each muffin pressing into batter slightly.
    Sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired.
    Bake for 20 to 25 minutes at 400\u00b0.
